About GLIP
What makes GLIP such a great experience? For one thing, GLIP offers you a wide selection of instructors to choose from. Whether you’re a well seasoned photographer who yearns for some new ideas or ways to refine your business, or a new kid to the industry, you’ll find a class that will definitely give you a boost.
But that’s not all. We make sure that we include some fun for you as well as an education. You’re invited to join us at any of the social events that are scheduled (you can kick back and relax, make some new friends, and exchange ideas). The social hours are great, the late night mixer a blast, and awesome parties.
Classes are held at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City – Riverfront. It is a beautiful resort next to the shoreline of Saginaw Bay with many opportunities for creating awesome images. This will be a fun and exciting week for everyone.
The camaraderie is one of the things you’ll enjoy most. Students at GLIP become “like family.” The open sharing of ideas with others will be a true beneficial highlight for you.

Board Members
Amanda Scott - Director
Amanda Scott is a well-renowned portrait photographer from the Michigan Thumb Area. With a reputation for body-positive boudoir photography, Amanda’s clients embrace her out-of-the-box themes resulting in an empowered community of women across Mid-Michigan. Her work has graced the pages of multiple publications and well as earned her accolades at the state and national associations. With speaking engagements both locally and nationally, Amanda enjoys exploring new scenery for inspiration she can bring back to her studio. She currently serves, not only as the director of GLIP but also on the board of Professional Photographers of Michigan.
Kari Douma, M.Photog., Cr., CPP
Kari Douma is a certified professional photographer in the West Michigan area and has earned her reputation as one of Michigan’s premiere wedding and portrait photographers. Kari owns and operates a retail wedding and portrait studio in Grandville, Michigan. Her works have achieved both local and national recognitions, from local level, state level, Professional Photographers of America, and the Canon Par Excellence Award. Kari has a commitment to photography education and has served on the board of directors from both the local and state affiliates. Kari currently is serving on the board as president-elect for the Professional Photographers of Michigan, as well as registerer/secretary for the Great Lakes Institute of Photography.
Darryl Svoboda, M.Photography
Darryl Svoboda is a Master Photographer located in the Lapeer, Michigan area.
He has been a member of the Professional Photographers of America since 2012 & became a Master Photographer in 2019, Professional Photographers of Michigan member since 2011. Darryl has won many awards from PPM, PPA, ASP Silver Medallion Award as well as the Kodak Gallery Award for his work. He still does some studio work but specializes in Landscape, Wildlife & Fine Art.
